A motorist whose car broke down on Interstate 20 was struck by a passing vehicle early Monday, authorities say.The accident happened about 6 a.m. on the service road of the highway in far southern Dallas. The victim was outside his car and being assisted by the Dallas County sheriff’s Courtesy Patrol when he was hit.“He apparently stepped into a lane of oncoming traffic,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Melinda Urbina said. She said the man, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The driver who hit him stopped and cooperated with authorities.
